Things you may expect to see during an oxygen assessment or review
Our highly skilled clinicians are dedicated to ensuring you have the best possible experience and outcome. Here are some of the things you may expect to see during an oxygen assessment or review.
Comprehensive assessment of your health, mobility, social situation, personal goals and general well-being
This may include your family members, care team or other Health Care Professionals.
Monitoring of your peripheral oxygen saturations
This involves putting a small probe on your finger called a finger pulse oximeter.
Capillary blood gas testing
This is painless and involves taking a small sample of oxygenated blood from the earlobe.
Ambulatory oxygen assessment
This can be a formal assessment at one of our clinics or an informal assessment in your own home. This would include monitoring of oxygen levels during physical activity, how far you are able to walk, monitoring of your heart rate, your perceived level of breathlessness, how you look and how breathless you appear, and how long it takes you to recover after exercise.
Safety reviews and risk assessments
Our staff will visit you in your own home to look at where your oxygen equipment is located, when you are using it, and if there are any risks In your home environment. We want all of our patients to be as safe as they can be when using oxygen at home. Our clinicians will offer a very high standard of safety advice and answer any questions that you may have.
